Our initial consultations usually last for 30 minutes. If you need a more detailed, appointment we can arrange a longer appointment time for you. Just let us know when booking if this is the case.

We usually ask you to bring along copies of any relevant documents that may assist us in better understanding your legal issue. Much like a bank, law firms are also required to verify your identity. You will need to provide a minimum of driver’s license + one other form of identification however some types of legal issues require a higher level of identification. Our friendly team will guide you on this prior to your appointment.

Depending on your legal issue’s area of law, we will usually charge our professional fees on either an hourly rate, or a fixed fee basis. When charging on an hourly rate basis, our team will talk with you about the work that that they will provide and the standard price range that this will fall into. This provides you with a guide for how much your legal issue will likely cost. When charging on a fixed fee basis, our team will talk with you upfront about the total cost, and what will be covered for the fixed fee. With both hourly rate price ranges and fixed fees, if something unexpected happens or the matter becomes more complicated, our team will flag this to you and talk with you about any additional costs, so that you are fully informed and can make decisions accordingly.

Yes! We offer a number of options. For most matters we usually provide invoices on a monthly basis so that your fees are paid as you go along, rather than leaving the payment to one lump sum at the end. For amounts over $1,500 there is an option to pay by monthly instalments – simply click on the “Make Payment” button to access payment options. For certain types of legal issues, we also work with specialist providers to offer you additional finance options. Please speak with our friendly team to find out more about payment options.

If something unexpected has happened and you require urgent legal assistance, please phone our Reception, explain the situation and we will arrange for a lawyer to assist you. We can assist in person, by phone or video meeting. If contacting us after hours, please send a detailed email, and we will contact you promptly at the start of the next business day to arrange a lawyer to assist you. We appreciate that not everything can be planned, and that urgent legal issues can be extremely stressful.

You are welcome to come into one of our three offices (Gold, Brisbane, Sydney) to meet with us, but we are also very flexible in working with you for remote consultations and appointments as well; either via phone or video meeting.

Yes! Our experienced team are trained to understand the way that contracts are written, and can effectively work alongside you to ensure that you fully understand the details involved in a contract, plus any legal implications for you.

Yes! As well as a specialist Litigation and Dispute Resolution team, a number of lawyers in our specialist practise areas also regularly assist clients with preparing for and attending Court matters.

We can assist with preparing a single Will, or mutual Wills for couples. Our experienced team can assist you to ensure that everything is covered, your wishes are documented, and that the Will is correctly and legally executed.

We work with small businesses on a regular basis. Our experienced Commercial team can provide advice on all aspects ranging from initial business purchase and due diligence, leasing and tenancy advice and preparing suites of business documents through to changes in structures, shareholder agreements etc. Our friendly and experienced team can discuss with you how we can best assist with your particular small business needs.

In most cases, we offer a free initial consultation, and this is an opportunity for you to speak with an experienced professional who can assess your particular legal issue and advise you on the range of options available and likelihood of success.

Ramsden Lawyers was established on the Gold Coast in 2003 and has been operating for over 20 years.
