Ocean Desta-Gebru
Law Clerk

Ocean Desta-Gebru is a Law Clerk at Ramsden Lawyers, where she works in the Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) claims team assisting clients who are seeking to access their superannuation TPD benefits. Before moving into TPD law, Ocean gained experience in Wills and Estates, which gave her a solid legal foundation and a client-focused approach to her work.
Ocean was drawn to TPD claims because of her warm, approachable manner and her genuine care for people facing illness, injury or disability. She finds real fulfilment in guiding clients through the TPD claims process and takes pride in creating clear, practical resources that help ease the pressure during what is often an overwhelming time.
Alongside her work at Ramsden Lawyers, Ocean is studying a Bachelor of Journalism/Laws (Honours) at the University of Queensland. As a volunteer with the UQ Pro Bono Centre, she contributes to the Human Rights Case Law Project by researching cases and preparing case notes.
Ocean’s Tigrayan heritage helps her build trust and rapport with clients from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. She listens closely to each client’s circumstances, priorities and goals, and is committed to offering compassionate, respectful support from the first conversation through to the outcome of their claim.
