Samira Friis is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law.
She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Technology Sydney, and a Master of Applied Law specialising in Family Law.
Admitted to practice in December 2016, Samira regularly advises and appears for clients in complex property settlement matters, including those involving high-value asset pools, digital assets, farming interests, family businesses, and intricate legal issues, as well as appeals and review applications.
In parenting matters, Samira acts for clients in both negotiated and litigated disputes concerning parenting arrangements, including matters involving serious allegations of family violence, drug abuse, sexual abuse, mental health issues, and international child abduction, together with appeals and review applications.
While committed to resolving disputes through negotiation and mediation wherever appropriate, Samira is also an experienced and tactical litigator. She is highly skilled in managing high-conflict and high-pressure matters involving significant legal, procedural, evidentiary and client-related complexities.
She is known for her incisive, strategic and commercially minded approach to family law matters, providing clear and realistic advice from the outset of every case. Clients value her transparency, attention to detail, and ability to distil complex issues into practical guidance that enables informed and confident decision-making.
Samira works closely with her clients in a collaborative and outcome-focused manner, carefully balancing legal rights, commercial realities, costs and delay. Samira also advises clients with assets, interests or connections in the United Kingdom and has developed expertise in the interaction between Australian and UK family law systems.
She is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and the Family Law Section.
